Eleven Girls, Including a Blind Trainee, Graduate from Sebeta Sewing Program
October 1, 2025- Eleven adolescent girls, including a blind trainee, proudly graduated from a two-month training program in sewing machines, reusable sanitary pads (Abaaboo Modes), and handmade scarves and skirts at the Sebeta Girls Center. This program is a key project of the Siiqqee Women’s Development Association (SWDA), supported by the Partners for Change (PFC) initiative in Ethiopia.
The PFC project focuses on empowering vulnerable girls and women through education, life skills, and economic independence. In partnership with SWDA, it supports programs that keep girls in school, motivate higher education, and provide valuable vocational training.
Mrs. Zertihun Tefera, SWDA Executive Director, opened the graduation ceremony by awarding certificates to the skilled graduates, encouraging them to continue their education and inspire others in their communities.

Mr. Yesufe, Director of Sebeta Women and Children Affairs, awarded and praised the six students who achieved outstanding results by passing the Grade 12 national exam out of 65 students, and shared a message motivating everyone to strive for academic and personal success.

The event was honored by distinguished guests including Ato Teshome, Director of Dima Hospital One Stop Center, local teachers, representatives from the Women and Children Affairs Office, the Attorney’s Office, and the trainees, highlighting the community’s strong commitment to girls’ education.
